Happy 2012!

Well it is a bit late, but Happy New Year!!
It has been a while since my last blog and so much has happened. Where to begin?
Well, Alex has been officially diagnosed with Duane Syndrome. This is because he was born without one of the muscles in his right eye. He is unable to move it to the right and has a little blind spot there. There is nothing they can do, unless he starts to tilt his head, so he can see out of his left eye more. At that point, they will operate on his left eye to help strengthen it. He seems to have adapted really well though and we are really pleased with him.
The photo below will give you a good idea of how his eyes are. If you open it up bigger (click on the photo), then cover the right side of his face, you will see his left eye is looking directly at the camera. His right eye should be doing the same, but that is as far as it will go across to the right.

Sophie is doing really well. She is the 3rd youngest in the school and is zooming ahead with her reading and writing. I think it helps that I make sure she does a little writing at the weekends to take in for her teacher to see. Right now though, she has chicken pox, so has been off school for the last week and a half. The spots are scabbing over though, so fingers crossed she can go back tomorrow.

Jamie is going to be 8 soon. We are having a small party for just him and his 2 best friends. I'm looking forward to it and Sophie is already asking if she can have a princess fairy party for her 5th birthday in June!

I have been diagnosed with cfs (chronic fatigue syndrome) so things get very tiring at times. But my chaos makers are very good at helping out!

14 More Big Sleeps!!

Wow, I can't believe it is nearly Christmas! The kids are really excited and I'm looking forward to it this year as it will be Alex' first Christmas that he actually understands. His 1st Christmas, which was last year, he was a bit too young to understand the concept of it all, but he is almost 1 and a half now, so I'm guessing he will pretty much get it now! Jamie and Sophie are looking forward to leaving a mince pie and glass of milk (or can of coca cola, we haven't decided yet!) out for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer. And for those of you who don't know the names of Santa's reindeer.......
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen! And not forgetting the very special Rudolph of course.

Sophie did her school nativity play on Thursday, it was wonderful. It wasn't the traditional one, but it did include all the people - Mary, Joseph, The 3 Wise Men..... Sophie was a snowflake and a shepherd, she loved it. On Wednesday Jamie will be singing with his class and the upper school in the church. I am looking forward to seeing him aswell.

So with only 2 weeks left till the big day, we have alot to get sorted!
Merry Christmas, Nadolig Llawen, Joyeux Noel, Felice Navidad and many more! (I hope I have spelt those right!!)

Fireworks 2011

This is a short video of the fireworks over on the cliffs in Polperro. We were able to stand on the decking and watch. The kids were in bed by the time it was on, so I made sure to record this for them!

My Little Monkeys in November 2011

They are being really good today. Jamie and Sophie are doing their times tables. Jamie knows them so well, he is actually teaching Sophie hers - 1 times table and 2 times table - and she is doing them really well! I did have some other news about the kids, but I have forgotten it because I've not really be around for a few days! Oh that's it. Jamie was made Writer of the Week at school on Wednesday. We are both so proud of him!

Happy Halloween 2011

This is Alex on his first ever Halloween, in 2010. He is only 3 months old and made a really cute little kitty cat!

This is Alex today, on his 2nd Halloween. He is wearing his sister's pink fairy wings, which he loves. He is 15 months old and a cheeky, but adorable, little monster!

For tea tonight, we had eyeballs, intestines and bogies, with a side of vomit. For anyone who doesn't speak "child", that translates as homemade meatballs, spaghetti cooked with red food dye, peas and a homemade cheese sauce, complete with green food colouring and tiny pieces of carrot and broccoli. Other veg can be added, depending on your tastes :)
Photos will follow later tonight!

Another Proud Moment

Well, in a previous post, I told you that Jamie is a school councillor for his class. Sophie is also the school council rep for her class now too!! She has been in reception class for less than 2 months and her teacher didnt even realise Jamie was on the council when she picked Sophs!! They have already been to one meeting together and all I was told about it was "We ate 2 biscuits each!" Yeah, so they got their priorities right!!
